YouTube star MrBeast is allegedly renting out the Great Pyramids at Giza for 100 hours to create a content for his channel.
Why It Matters
At the time of writing, MrBeast has over 337 million subscribers on his main YouTube channel as well as a total of over 155.3 million subscribers on his other four channel. Over the summer, he became the first YouTube to reach over 300 million subscribers on one channel.
The internet personality is known for his elaborate challenges and advantageous giveaways, which have included staying underwater for 24 hours, rock-paper-scissors competitions, and buying everything in a grocery store.
In 2023, Time named MrBeast one of the world’s 100 most influential people.
MrBeast, who was born James Donaldson, told Olympian Noah Lules on his podcast Beyond the Records that he plans to rent the three great pyramids for 100 hours to explore and video his experiences for his YouTube channel. The YouTuber said he is excited about going “through all the rooms and the tombs and that kind of stuff” though he does not believe in ghosts.”
“We got all three of the pyramids of Egypt for a hundred hours,” MrBeast said. ‘I’m going to do a video where they’re going to let me explore anywhere I want to in the pyramids for a hundred hours. So, we’re going to sleep at the pyramid, all to ourselves. We worked with the Egyptian government.”

MrBeast started posting to YouTube in 2012. He has since cofounded a number of organizations including Team Seas which fundraises for Ocean Conservancy and The Ocean Cleanup. MrBeast also has won the Creator of the Year Award at the Streamy Awards as well as Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards’ Favorite Male Creator.
The Great Pyramid of Giza is the largest Egyptian pyramid and was built around 2600 B.C.E. to serve as a tomb of Pharaoh Khufu.
Khufu’s pyramid is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. They’re situated along the bank of the Nile River in northern Egypt. There are at least 118 identified pyramids overall, but there are three main ones: Pyramid of Khufu, Pyramid of Khafre and the Pyramid of Menkaure, each named for the pharaoh they were built for.
The pyramids are popular tourist attractions and the public is allowed to enter for a fee. All three were plundered by thieves in ancient and medieval times, so many of the items originally left are no longer there.
MrBeast said in the podcast episode that he’s never been inside of the pyramids but that he wants to “find secrets.” He said an expert guide will be with him.
“I want them to be like this is the room that no one’s seen publicly,” MrBeast said. “I’m so excited because there’s all these secret corridors. I don’t know what to expect.”

What People Are Saying
Newsweek found a Trip Advisor review by a JanisB92, suggesting that she rented out the Great Pyramid “for several hours one night” in 2014.
“What an amazing experience that was – renting the Great Pyramid from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. one night,” the review reads. The guards stayed outside, and we got to explore inside to our hearts’ content. I also visited several times during the day, but the night visit with just a few of us in the pyramid was amazing – something I will never forget.”
People on X, formerly known as Twitter, are asking MrBeast to bring a 360 degree camera “so people can watch the exploration” in virtual reality.
Others, however, are noting the catastrophe this could cause for tourism.

What Happens Next
MrBeast will visit the site and film to create content. He said he plans to film for hours.
